Exploration & Exploitation
ONHYM conducts research, exploration, and exploitation of hydrocarbon deposits, fossil fuels, and mining substances across Morocco’s territory excluding phosphates combining scientific rigor with operational excellence.
Promotion & Public-Private Partnerships
ONHYM promotes all actions contributing to the development of hydrocarbon and mineral exploration and exploitation, including public-private partnerships (PPPs) that can take place at any stage of operations.
Open Geoscientific Data
ONHYM produces and manages comprehensive databases on Morocco’s national subsoil, as well as the applicable administrative, financial, and legal frameworks made freely available to any interested operator.
Negotiation of Agreements
ONHYM negotiates the terms and conditions of association, co-operation, and partnership agreements with all types of partners, in full compliance with Moroccan legal provisions in effect.

Energy exploration in Morocco

During this period, it has secured exploration permits and participated in seismic acquisition, processing, seabed coring, and deepwater drilling in partnership with ONHYM.

In 2016 Eni entered the Rabat Deep Offshore License, becoming operator on a hi-risk frontier play, the Jurassic carbonates, totally un-explored in the northern Moroccan offshore. The Saipem 12000 drillship spudded the Rabat Deep 1 well (RSD-1) on 14 March 2018, in 1100 m water depth. The final TD of 3180 m, within the Jurassic carbonates, was reached on 26 April 2018.
